About copake camping resort

Copake Camping Resort is a family-friendly RV and cabin resort tucked into New York’s Hudson Valley, offering full hookup RV sites, rustic and deluxe cabins, and the kind of weekend-away experience that keeps guests coming back season after season.

Great resort, quiet search presence. That was the gap Copake came to Simplifai to close.

The challenge

Copake had everything a guest could want, but very little of that was showing up in search. Rankings sat on page one but below the fold, click-through rate was under 1%, and the reservation and contact forms built into the site were barely being used.

Two problems, really: get found, and once found, get contacted.

The strategy

Simplifai built a full-funnel local SEO program around Copake’s site and its Google Business Profile, not a single quick fix:

Foundation

Full-site technical SEO: crawlability, indexation, schema, Core Web Vitals cleanup
Business listing cleanup and foundational backlink acquisition

Visibility

Local SEO and active Google Business Profile management, posting, and optimization
Social media activity to support brand search and local engagement

Conversion

Conversion-focused on-site optimization to turn visitors into inquiries
Ongoing content built around the real questions guests search for before booking
Standard recurring SEO practices to keep the gains compounding

Visible, But Barely Converting

Heading into Q4 2025, Copake Camping Resort’s organic search footprint didn’t match what the resort actually offered. Four numbers told the story.

1,460

Organic Clicks / Qtr

162K

Impressions / Qtr

0.9%

Click-Through Rate

9.6

Avg. SERP Position

Most visibility sat on page one but below the fold — the position range where search intent is high and clicks go to whoever ranked above you.
The reservation forms were underutilized—only 74 direct leads in the baseline quarter
GBP was underoptimized: no posting cadence, incomplete service listings, limited photos.
No intent-matched content targeting the specific queries resort guests search before booking: 50-amp confirmation, pet policy, Big Rig access, group accommodation options.
Citation inconsistencies across third-party directories, with the property still listed under a legacy brand name in several sources.

Business impact: Low SERP visibility for high-intent camping and RV queries meant the resort was invisible to its most valuable drive-market audiences at the exact moment they were ready to book.

The results

We ran a structured local SEO program covering the entire funnel. The work split into two phases that built on each other — foundation first, then conversion-focused content.

Search Visibility

Organic clicks grew 140% and click-through rate nearly tripled, from 0.7% to 2.0%, as the site moved from ranking for broad, low-intent terms to ranking for the specific things guests actually search before booking a stay.

Local Presence (Google Business Profile)

Google Business Profile went from a static listing to an active demand channel. Total profile interactions grew roughly 5x, climbing from about 400 a month in February to over 1,600 a month by June, driven by consistent posting, accurate service categories, and active review and photo management.

Website Conversions

Direct, high-intent actions on the site, reservation inquiries and contact form completions, grew 455%, from 74 to 411. Visitors starting a reservation or contact form grew even faster, from 189 to 4,175, meaning the funnel got wider at the top and stronger at converting all the way down.

The bottom LINE: revenue impact

Website leads and Google Business Profile calls are both direct, high-intent paths to a booking, so both count toward the number that matters most: revenue.

$95,950 in combined booking revenue, split almost evenly between the website ($48,925) and Google Business Profile calls ($47,025). Of that, $39,900 is verified growth, measured directly against Copake’s own pre-campaign baseline, not a projection.

Three Quarters of Data. Two Very Different Stories.

The Google Search Console numbers cover three consecutive quarters and break cleanly into two phases. Phase 1 expanded the footprint. Phase 2 converted it into clicks and leads.

Period Clicks Impressions CTR Avg. Position
Q4 2025 — Baseline (Oct–Dec) 1,460 162K 0.9% 9.6
Q1 2026 — Phase 1 (Jan–Mar) 1,860 258K 0.7% 7.9
Q2 2026 — Phase 2 (Apr–Jun) ★ 3,510 174K 2.0% 11.4

Source: Google Search Console, quarter over quarter. ★ Most recent completed quarter.

Phase 1 (Q1 2026): Impressions grew 59%, from 162K to 258K. Average position tightened from 9.6 to 7.9. The site was covering more ground in search and ranking better across it.

Phase 2 (Q2 2026): Clicks nearly doubled quarter over quarter (+89%). CTR went from 0.7% to 2.0%—not because of position, but because of intent match.

Average Position Went Down. Why?

Average position moved from 7.9 to 11.4 in the same quarter that clicks and CTR both sharply improved. That’s the kind of number that gets buried in a case study. We’re not burying it.

The most likely explanation is a mix-shift. The site now ranks for a much wider set of longer-tail, purchase-intent queries — “50-amp RV sites Hudson Valley,” “pet-friendly cabins Columbia County NY,” “Big Rig friendly campground near NYC” — which naturally pulls average position down. A narrow set of head terms at position 7 would look better in that column. But it wouldn’t produce 3,510 clicks and 411 leads.

Clicks and leads both rose sharply at the same time as average position fell. That pattern points to mix-shift, not ranking regression. We’re confirming it against query-level data next quarter and will share what we find.

Direct, high-intent actions reservation form submissions and contact form completions grew from 74 to 411 over the same 90-day comparison window. That’s a 455% increase. Top-of-funnel engagement grew even faster. More people found the site, and a higher percentage took action when they arrived.

One tracking gap surfaced in the data: page-view events for the reservations, cabins, and RV sites pages are reading zero in both periods pointing to a tagging gap on those specific view events rather than genuinely zero traffic. Fixing this is the next implementation priority.

Methodology note: Revenue figures use a 25% lead-to-booking conversion rate (a standard travel and hospitality benchmark) and a $475 average booking value based on the resort’s published rates. These are modeled figures to show directional ROI — not a substitute for the client’s own booking or CRM records.

Phase 1 Built the Foundation. Phase 2 Converted It. Now We Compound.

Three priorities are in focus for the next phase.

Fix the Tracking Gap

Page-view events for reservations, cabins, and RV sites pages are reading zero a tagging issue, not zero traffic. Fixing this properly measures intent at the highest-value decision points on the site.

Confirm the Mix-Shift

Content written for “50-amp RV sites Hudson Valley” attracts visitors with a reason to book. That’s why CTR went from 0.9% to 2.0% as the keyword mix got longer-tail. Volume matters less than intent alignment.

Keep GBP Active

394 phone calls from an actively managed GBP demonstrates what most businesses leave on the table by treating it as a set-and-forget listing. For local businesses with a strong drive market, GBP is a booking channel.

Three Lessons That Apply Beyond This Client

Fix the Foundation Before Writing Content

Page-view events for reservations, cabins, and RV sites pages are reading zero a tagging issue, not zero traffic. Fixing this properly measures intent at the highest-value decision points on the site.

Confirm the Mix-Shift

Content written for “50-amp RV sites Hudson Valley” attracts visitors with a reason to book. That’s why CTR went from 0.9% to 2.0% as the keyword mix got longer-tail. Volume matters less than intent alignment.

GBP Is a Demand Channel, Not a Listing

394 phone calls from an actively managed GBP demonstrates what most businesses leave on the table by treating it as a set-and-forget listing. For local businesses with a strong drive market, GBP is a booking channel.
